New Year's Resolutions
新年决心
首先，我们替刚出生的小婴儿，一直到还没上幼儿园的小宝宝们写一份新年决心，其实是宝妈宝爸的美好愿望。新的一年里，宝宝们当然会长大，他们的新年决心或者说我们的美好愿望都会慢慢实现。
I. Ages 0-3
0-3岁
I will go to bed without being tucked in
我以后不用爸爸妈妈安顿我上床睡觉了，
so that Mommy and Daddy can rest more after a long day of work.
这样他们忙了一天就可以多休息了。
I will sleep through the night
我以后要睡一整宿觉，
so that Mommy and Daddy won't have to wake up in the middle of the night to take care of me.
这样爸爸妈妈就不用夜里醒来照顾我了。
I will try not to kick off the covers
我以后不踢被子了，
so that Mommy and Daddy can sleep tight without worrying that I might catch a cold.
这样爸爸妈妈就不用总惦记怕我冻着，就能睡个踏实觉了。
I will be potty trained and won't peepee and poopoo in my pants
我以后要学会上厕所，不尿裤子、拉裤子，
so that Mommy and Daddy won't have to do so much laundry.
这样爸爸妈妈就不用洗那么多衣服了。
I will eat by myself
我以后要自己吃饭，
so that Mommy and Daddy can have their meals before the food gets cold.
这样爸爸妈妈就不用每次饭都凉了才能吃上了。
I will put away my toys after I play with them
我以后每次玩完玩具都把它们收起来，
so that Mommy and Daddy won't have to clean up after me.
这样爸爸妈妈就不用帮我收拾了。
When I am sick, I will take medicine
以后我生病了一定吃药，
so that I can get well soon
这样我就能赶快好起来，
and that Mommy and Daddy won't have to worry about me.
爸爸妈妈就不用一直担心我了。
I will learn to be patient and cooperate when Mommy and Daddy dress me
以后爸爸妈妈给我穿衣服的时候我要学会耐心并且配合，
so that they won't have to squat down for a long time.
这样他们就不用一直蹲着了。
I will remember to wash my hands every time I come home我以后每次回家都会记得洗手，
so that Mommy and Daddy won't have to worry about me getting sick from germs.
这样爸爸妈妈就不用担心我感染病菌了。
接下来是真的可以立下新年决心的大宝宝和妈妈间的对话。
II. Ages Older Than 3
3岁以上
Mom: The New Year is almost here,
妈妈：新年快到了，
so it's time to write some New Year's resolutions.
是时候写下新年决心了。
Child: What are resolutions?
宝宝：什么是决心？
That's a big word!
这个词好长啊！
Mom: Resolutions are things we resolve, or decide, to do.
妈妈：决心就是我们下定决心、决定要做的事情。
You can also think of them as goals that you set up for yourself.
你也可以把它们想成你为自己设定的目标。
Child: Well, I want to read more books.
宝宝：好的，我想读更多书。
Can I make a resolution for that?
我能把这个作为新年决心吗？
Mom: Yup!
妈妈：可以！
Here, I'll write the first one down on this piece of paper:
来，我在这张纸上写下第一条：
I will read more books.
我会读更多的书。
You can make reaching your goal easier by adding a number.
你可以加一些数字，会更容易实现目标。
Why don't we say "I will read at least 2 books each week?"
咱们可以说：“我每周会读至少两本书。”
Since you are so young,
因为你还小，
books for your reading level are short
适合你阅读水平的书都很短，
and we can read a few each week.
我们每周可以读好几本。
Child: Okay, I can do that.
宝宝：好的，我可以的。
Mom: Let me think of one thing I can resolve to do…
妈妈：我来想想我下定决心做的一件事情……
hmm… I will eat less carbs next year.
嗯……明年我要少吃碳水化合物。
Child: What's another one I can do?
宝宝：我还能做什么？
Mom: How about spending more time outside this coming year?
妈妈：明年多去户外，怎么样？
Child: Yeah!
宝宝：嗯！
I'll write my last one:
我再写最后一个：
I will get better at math.
我的数学会更好。
Oh wait, can I change it to "I will visit my grandma and grandpa more"?
哦等等，我能把它改为“我会多去看望爷爷奶奶”吗？
I want to do that.
我想做这个。
Mom: Well, I think you are very capable of doing both,
妈妈：好的，我认为你有能力两件事都做，
so let's write both down!
所以咱们把两个都写下来吧！
Child: You need one more, Mommy!
宝宝：你需要再加一个，妈妈！
Mom: I'll add this:
妈妈：我加上这个：
I will do yoga twice a week.
我要一周做两次瑜伽。
I just started and do it once a week.
我刚开始做，现在是一周一次。
Child: You will be very stretchy at the end of next year!
宝宝：你到明年年底柔韧性会非常好的！
Mom: Haha, maybe I will be!
妈妈：哈哈，可能吧！
Okay, let's stick our New Year's resolutions on the fridge door.
好了，咱们把新年决心贴在冰箱门上吧。
That way we can always see them and be reminded.
这样咱们就能经常看见，提醒自己了。
